Innovation workshop: Circular Craft & 3D Printing for Artisansis a one-day Sustainability Training Workshop for artisans, organized by ESPRONCEDA within the European Erasmus+ project Hands Across Generations , and also as a Craft Lab activity (European project Craftwork4All). Locally, it is part of the NEB & Inclusio and Constellation Lab programs.

This session invites artisans from different trades to apply sustainability principles to their own practice: responsible material sourcing, waste reduction, creative reuse (upcycling), and circular economy strategies — and to experiment with ESPRONCEDA’s 3D printer as one more tool in service of the craft, not as a substitute for it.

What to Expect

A guided circular innovation process, not a theoretical class. Starting from your own technique and materials, you will work on identifying reuse opportunities, generating ideas, and building a real prototype.

Technology in Service of the Craft, Sustainably. You will learn to use Espronceda’s 3D printer with a focus on responsible practices, as a resource complementary to your material knowledge.

A Space for Intergenerational Exchange. Artisans with years of experience and younger participants will work side by side, combining traditional knowledge with new perspectives on materials and sustainability.

One prototype per pair, developed from your craft with a concrete circular strategy
Practical innovation tools (opportunity mapping, sustainability filter) that you can continue applying in your practice
Exhibition opportunity: pieces developed during the session may be part of the Local Exhibition and Craft Festival, from December 2 to 4

Who Is This Workshop For?

Artisans of any traditional craft discipline
Especially aimed at a mixed group: experienced artisans and young apprentices or artisans in training
No prior experience with 3D printing or innovation processes is required — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment

About the Facilitators

The workshop is led by the Espronceda team: Kris Pilcher, specialist in 3D printing and innovation, and Malena Vinay Cano and Maria Rubies Vistuer, coordinators of the HAG and CraftWork4ALL project at Espronceda.

How Participants Are Selected

To ensure the intergenerational mix that makes this workshop unique, we will select a balanced group:

Minimum 6 experienced artisans (with more than 10 years of active practice).
Minimum 6 apprentices or artisans in training (students, young people starting their professional career or changing trade).
Up to 5 additional places to complete the group, prioritizing diversity of trades and profiles.

If we receive more applications than places, we will prioritize: diversity of disciplines, motivation expressed in the form, and gender balance.
