Areas of Expertise

Espronceda works across several interconnected programmes that bring together contemporary and new media art, science, education and social engagement.

Espronceda art and exhibition space in Barcelona
01

New media art & science

IMMENSIVA is our international platform for artists and creatives working with advanced technologies such as VR, AR, AI and sensors, developing collaborations with universities, art centres, R&D institutions, galleries, foundations and digital festivals to explore new fields of innovation through art residencies.

02

Visual art prizes

Over the years Espronceda has built an international network and become a partner of several art awards — each offering artists a research and production grant and a final exhibition, including the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice), ARBA-ESA, Swab and Royal College of Art London prizes, RUFA (Rome), the Vera Brant Prize (Brazil) and the Nectar–Espronceda ArtPrize.

03

Sustainability

We collaborate with cultural and creative institutions worldwide to explore and disseminate art as a tool for social and environmental change — moving beyond the anthropocentric model toward an ecocentric and balanced future through projects, exhibitions, seminars and residencies.

04

Social change & education

Part of our activity is dedicated to art for social change, integration and inclusion. With Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Third Paradise and the international coordinator of Kids Guernica, we have run over 100 workshops with more than 2,000 young people and children around the world.

05

Art exhibitions

Beyond artist residencies, Espronceda organises final exhibitions and hosts shows with partners, opening up to the city and the international art scene. Over the last few years we have produced around 130 exhibitions.

06

Conferences, symposia & workshops

Symposia and conferences with national and international experts analyse the relationship between contemporary art, culture, education, society, innovation and research. We also offer workshops for all ages — on average around 60 cultural events per year.
