ESPRONCEDA is proud to announce the opening of the exhibition ArtCosmos: Light, in honor of the International Year of Light established by the UNESCO. Eight artists will present their unique work related to light, and two brief and entertaining scientific talks will take place, especially created for the exhibition, explaining different aspects of light and the relationship between art and science.
The exhibition will feature special guest Alexander Ponomarev (1957, Ukraine), an artist who uses his experience as a marine engineer and diver for the realisation of his projects, and Vasily Sad (1948, Ukraine), one of the most important abstract painters of his country.
From the field of science, Àlvar Sanchez, professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and expert in photonics, explains how light can be manipulated around an object or subject to render it invisible; while Osvaldo Catalano, astrophysicist and current director of the Istituto Nazionale Di Astrofisica (INAF, Italy), discusses the relationship between art and science, using the sky in Vincent Van Gogh’s painting The Starry Night as an example.
As part of the activities promoted by Quo Artis, the artists and scientists involved in the exhibition will visit Eurecat, one of the most important technology centres in Catalonia.
