His work has been exhibited in Brussels. Lionel Pennings won the GodeCharles Award Prize, receiving a fellowship from the GodeCharles Foundation. The prize allows young talents, unknown before the award, to be recognised by a panel of experts made up of renowned artists. In 2019 he received the ARBA-ESA/ESPRONCEDA Award Prize for an artistic and research residency in Barcelona, providing him with time for artistic research and a final exhibition. His work is grounded in the history of archaeology from an aesthetic perspective. His research questions matter and form, and their impact on the collective imagination.
