Andrey Klassen (b. 1984, Irkutsk, Russia) is a contemporary artist based in Hamburg, Germany. He studied Fine Arts at the Art School in Irkutsk (2001–2004) and completed a Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden (HfBK Dresden) between 2005 and 2012 under Prof. Ralf Kerbach. Klassen’s work is characterized by large-scale ink drawings on paper, populated with dreamlike scenes, shadowy and hybrid figures, often evocative of myth, folklore, or spiritual rites.
