ESPRONCEDA presents NUBIA Lab ISA 2024, an incubation programme dedicated to identifying and supporting some of Catalonia’s most promising digital art projects, from both emerging and established artists.

The initiative provides artists with specialised mentorship to foster innovation across technological, artistic and social fields, as well as tools and strategies to strengthen the promotion and visibility of their projects at both national and international levels.

Selected projects are evaluated according to their innovation, artistic excellence and social impact, focusing on three main areas: excellence in contemporary art, experimentation with advanced technologies such as Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the end of October, two projects will be selected to participate in a super-acceleration phase, designed to prepare them for international exposure and presentation at leading platforms and festivals such as Venice Immersive, Cannes XR and NewImages Festival in 2025.

Key speakers

• Betty Bigas: art curator, public relations professional and artistic director specialising in digital art and new technologies. She has collaborated with companies and initiatives including Apple TV, Nestlé Innovation and NFT Barcelona.
• Alejandro Martín: co-founder of IMMENSIVA and NUBIA, responsible for the artistic direction of both platforms and their national and international positioning strategies.

Programme

• 11:00–11:20 — Welcome at Mèdol Centre d’Arts Contemporànies.
• 11:20–11:40 — Presentation of the objectives of the digital art project incubator and accelerator, led by Alejandro Martín.
• 11:40–12:10 — Keynote by Betty Bigas, curator and mentor at NUBIA Lab ISA.
• 12:10–12:30 — Presentation of a selection of incubated projects, with the participation of the artists.
• 12:30–13:00 — Conclusions.
