Espronceda Gallery presents two virtual reality experiences: the New Images Festival and La Comédie Virtuelle by the Gilles Jobin company, as part of Espronceda’s spring programme. To call it one of the most innovative galleries in Barcelona would be an understatement. Over recent years, Espronceda Center of Art and Culture has established itself as one of the leading references for digital art in Barcelona. Following the success of last year’s experiences — pandemic included — among which we highlight the IMMENSIVA residency, the largest of its kind in the world, the time has come to present two very special collaborations. The first is our participation in the NewImages Festival, the incubator of knowledge and experimentation that offers a fresh approach to innovative creative techniques and new forms of storytelling, which you can enjoy at Espronceda from 9 to 20 June, 11am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.
This initiative is part of an alliance between three of the most important audiovisual festivals in Europe: NewImages Festival, Cannes XR and the Tribeca Film Festival, which have co-branded this edition as XR3. Each festival has curated a selection of VR works to be exhibited at the Museum of Other Realities (MOR), an impressive virtual exhibition space in which each room features an original and inventive scenography, specially designed for this landmark occasion by the selected artists. This unprecedented partnership makes VR and the latest immersive creations easily accessible to audiences everywhere.
