Detlef Landeck, inspired by American jazz and improvisation performer Butch Morris, developed with Industrie-Soundorchestra the principle of Conduction and structured, directed improvisation.
Through the percussion of Olaf Pyras, the rhythmic pulse generated by VW components used in their vehicles was introduced into the performance.
Among the sounds that make up Industrie-Soundorchestra are those emitted by machines on the production floors of Volkswagen Kassel, collected and processed by sound artist Wolfram Spyra. These sounds, together with the choir of the German School of Barcelona and the project’s musicians from various areas of VW, create an innovative composition interpreting modules composed by Landeck within the framework of “Concepts of Structured/Directed Improvisation”, giving free rein to creativity-driven improvisations.
