RISE UP’s in Dan Mladine, Hrvatski Jandrof/Jarovce

Dan Mladine

The RISE UP Travelling Exhibition arrived in Hrvatski Jandrof / Jarovce, Slovakia, on September 12th, as part of the celebrated Dan Mladine festival. This stop was not only a showcase of artistic talent but a vibrant statement in support of Burgenland Croatian, the heart of this community’s identity.

Hosted by the Dan Mladine festival, the exhibition transformed the venue into a hub for artistic dialogue, cultural reflection, and youth-led celebration from Friday evening through the entire weekend.

As part of the RISE UP project — co-funded by the European Union — the exhibition showcases original works by five artists from minoritised language communities. Each artist reflected on two core questions: What would you say to your community? What would you say to people outside your community?

Cross-stitch workshop

As a highlight of this stop, Burgenland Croatian artist Viktoria Ratasich hosted an exclusive cross-stitch workshop on September 13th. Participants engaged with traditional techniques, blending ancestral heritage with contemporary creativity in a shared space of learning and joy.

Artists:
  • Teano Kardula
  • Ricard Novell
  • Lianne Wilson
  • Viktoria Ratasich
  • Yhely Hälvin

Through artworks and contextual panels available in Burgenland Croatian, Slovak, and English, the exhibition opened a space for visitors to reflect on identity and belonging.
